The SERT (Symantec Endpoint Recovery Tool)is useful in situations where computers are too heavily infected for the Symantec Endpoint Protection client installed upon them to clean effectively.ģ. The Power Eraser Tool eliminates deeply embedded and difficult to remove threats that traditional virus scanning doesn't always detect.Ģ. Here are some useful tools that are provided by Symantec for help with finding those hard to detect threats.ġ. Installing a security product on an infected system is not recommended. I would try running a few free tools to make sure the system is clean before troubleshooting further. If you had issues with your SEP install, and now you have issues with your MSE install, then maybe your system is infected.

I am running Windows 7 Home Premium (64 bit) and have not had any additional antivirus/malware or firewall software installed on my account apart from Endpoint (which as I mentioned is now uninstalled) and MSE (currently installed).Īny advice that you would be able to provide would be appreciated.

Similarly I was unable to get a ticket from Symantec tech support as I do not know the university's account credentials. I have contacted my university's tech support for help, however, they advised that they were unable to provide me with a copy of Cleanwipe or any instructions for clean removal. I was wondering, however, if anyone would be able to point me to a software utility or instructions for clean removal of Endpoint as I believe it is interfering with my current security software (MSE). I am an end user who installed Endpoint on my computer under a licence from my university, however unstalled (using the default uninstaller accessed from the Windows control panel) it as I found that it interfered with my system operation.

I am unsure if this is the correct place to post my query, but I require some guidance as to how to cleanly remove Endpoint on Win 7 64-bit.
